As part of the post-investment support services for investment projects registered with SIB, the Investment Facilitation team met with two representatives of Kaz de Pasta, an Italian-owned company in Seychelles producing freshly made Pasta dishes. Their small factory is located at Anse Etoile on Mahe and they have been in operation since the 01st December 2018.


Kaz de Pasta is currently producing a wide range of pastas including lasagnas, ravioli, pizzas, cakes as well as cooked frozen spaghettis with a range of sauces. Customers have the choice of purchasing a fully prepared meal requiring cooking or re-heating, or pasta dough alone. The company is able to prepare products upon order, as well as cater for special occasions.

The Seychelles Investment Board organized its first VIP dinner which was held in Hong Kong on the 24th January 2019 at the Regal Hong Kong Hotel. The theme was ‘Investment Opportunities in Seychelles’. The aim of the dinner was to give potential investors within the Hong Kong and Pearl River Delta region an overview of the investment potential in Seychelles. This dinner has come about due to increased interests in Seychelles from investors in that region.


The Seychelles Investment Board alongside numerous other government departments and parastatal agencies attended the Sustainable Blue Economy Conference that was held at the Kenya International Conference Centre in Nairobi, Kenya from the 26th to 28th November, 2018.  The objectives of the conference was to engage in action-oriented discussions on pertaining issues such as the priorities and challenges of establishing a sustainable blue economy and innovative role of various stakeholders, including national and local governments, private sector, civil society, regional and sub-regional groups as well as domestic and international financial institutions in investing and formulating sustainable ways of exploiting the Blue Economy.

SIB’s Investment Facilitation team met with Mr. Herman Holst, the owner of Vision Care for a visit. 


Vision care has now been in existence for 16 years in Seychelles. Mr. Herman Holst, as he prefers to be called by his staff  “Herman” is originally from Germany. He moved to Namibia, where he set up eye care shops but then decided to move to Seychelles. He and his wife now have a total of five eye care shops in Seychelles.  In total, Vision care employs 34 staff, of which 8 are expatriate optometrists. Mr. Holst also offers on-the-job training for interns.   

Mahe Design & Build was started 15 years ago and over the years has flourished into one of the most respected and accomplished locally owned construction companies on the island.


SIB’s Investment Facilitation team was warmly welcomed to the property at Le Rocher by the Chief Executive and owner Mr Gilbert Frichot and his management team. Before being given a tour, the team was brought to the stunning offices which were dressed in modern design and architecture and locally sourced wood. Mr Frichot explained the business model, how it started, his many successes as well as the challenges they face.

SIB’s Investment Facilitation staff met with Mr. Andrew Padayachy the owner and director of Padayachy’s Funeral Investment at his offices at Mont Fleuri, on Mahe for a courtesy visit.


The business started as a small shop at Le Chantier 25 years ago, with about one client per month. Today, Padayachy’s Funeral Investment is the sole provider of comprehensive funeral services in Seychelles, servicing an average of 80 funerals per month. The main property is located adjacent to the Mont Fleuri cemetary and currently houses the main offices where clients make their bookings and payments; a flower shop; a tailoring workshop; a show-room for coffins, ties, ribbons, photo-frames and all other funeral accessories; carpentry workshop; a warehouse for storing wood; granite cutting area; as well as the Surya Memorial Hall where funeral and crematorium services are offered.

The Investment Facilitation team of SIB met with the owners of Peppermint Spa at their salon at Beau-vallon, for an after-care visit, on the 05th November 2019.


The spa has been in existence for 8 years now with its main salon located in a typical colonial house at Beau-Vallon. It recently opened a second salon at the Le Chantier Mall in Victoria. The spa currently employs 10 personnel.

SIB’s Investment Facilitation team met with Isabelle Larue, Jouel’s Administrative and Marketing Co-ordinator for a courtesy visit at their head office at The Quadrant in Victoria, on Monday 12th November 2018. 


Jouel is a retailer of fine jewellery in Seychelles, which has been in existence for 14 years. It initially started with one shop under the name of ‘Diamond SA’ at the Seychelles International Airport. To date, Jouel has grown to 7 shops on Mahe and Praslin combined.  Aside from selling jewellery, Jouel also sells ceramic art, decorative ornaments, sculptures, gold coins and watches such as Tag Huer. The business currently employees 35 workers.

Lilianne Desir, a member of SIB's International Cooperation department attended a training  from 15th October to 05th November 2018, in Beijing. The training was organised by the Chinese Government, and focused on  Expanding Overseas Markets for Developing Countries.


The training was coordinated by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (China Chamber of International Commerce) Training Centre – CCPIT and saw the participation of 70 representatives from 34 countries namely: Antigua and Barbuda, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Cuba, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Mauritius, Mongolia, Sierra Leonne, Seychelles, Slovakia, South Africa, Suriname, Tanzania, The Sultanate of Oman, Tonga, Turkey, Uganda, Uzbekistan

The Investment Advisory team met with Mr. Steve Khambatta, the Managing Director of Amalgamated Tobacco Co., a cigarette manufacturer in Mahe, Seychelles, on Tuesday 30th October.


Amalgamated Tobacco Company Limited was incorporated on 31st January, 1973, and has been in existence for 45 years, manufacturing the cigarette brand Mahe King. Production started in July 1974 with original brands of Silhouette and De Lux with Mahe Kings being launched later in 1977.
